Harnessing the power of pure, controlled heat against the signs of ageing.

Look fresh

Tixel treatment stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. This improves skin laxity, wrinkles, crêpiness, texture, pore size and other dermal signs of ageing, leaving you looking refreshed and rejuvenated.

Safe to treat many areas

One of the great benefits of this treatment is that it is safe for use around the sensitive eye area. It can also treat the face, neck, chest and backs of the hands.

A safe, effective and non-invasive treatment with minimal side effects. There is no burning, bleeding, fumes or carbonisation.

Quick and with low pain

Noticeable results within a few short lunch-time treatment sessions. Pain is rated as much lower than comparable laser treatments.

Minimal downtime

A comfortable treatment with shorter downtime than comparable treatments.

High patient satisfaction

The skin heals quickly and looks vibrant and glowing within a few days after treatment, resulting in high patient satisfaction which is further strengthened by the long term results.

About Tixel

Tixel is an energy-based device that uses pure radiated heat to help the appearance of skin laxity, for rejuvenation and dermal signs of ageing. It is effective against fine lines, wrinkles, thinned skin, scarring and more. It is one of just a few treatments that are safe for use around the eyes.

Tixel offers many advantages. As a non-ablative device, it requires minimal social downtime (usually 1 -3 days of self-care at home, makeup can generally be applied on the third day) and a favourable risk profile. Adverse effects like scarring, burns and post-inflammatory pigmentation are much less likely to occur than with ablative technologies.

How it works

The Tixel device administers brief pulses of heat energy to the surface layers of the skin while safeguarding the deeper tissues. This process creates micro-channels that effectively stimulate collagen production and trigger regeneration.

During treatment, micro pins are introduced to the surface of the skin at a precisely-controlled speed and create brief contact with the skin that lasts only a few milliseconds. Because the tiny pyramid tips hold a limited amount of energy, burns and tissue charring are prevented.

These micro-channels created by the Tixel on the skin offer an immediate opportunity to enhance the absorption rates of growth factors, lightening agents and other topicals.

Frequently asked questions

What can Tixel treat?

Tixel is effective against a range of skin complaints including:

  • Acne scars.
  • Lines and wrinkles.
  • Sagging skin (including eye bags or sagging eyelids).
  • Uneven pigmentation, skin discolouration or melasma.
  • Age spots.

What is the difference between fractional CO2 and Tixel?

The treatment outcomes of Tixel are comparable to fractional carbon dioxide laser, but with less risk and recovery time.

Because Tixel uses controlled heat instead of laser technology it can be safely used around the eyes without the need for corneal shields.

Fractional CO2 laser also leaves a layer of debris on the skin post-treatment which Tixel does not.

Does it hurt?

Pain tolerance varies from patient to patient however many describe Tixel as quite tolerable. The pain feedback ratings we receive are generally around a 2-5 out of 10.

What should I expect?

The treatment can take between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the area being treated. Tixel uses a stamping technique so you will feel slight pressure and heat with each press.

Normal side effects to expect following the treatment are:

  • Swelling and redness for 3 – 4 days.
  • Incrustations and increased skin dryness (sandpaper like sensation).
  • Tightness.

How many treatments will I need?

To achieve optimal results, most patients have a course of 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

What preparation and aftercare do I need?

Before your Tixel treatment:

  • Arrive at your appointment with clean and makeup-free skin.
Please allow 2 weeks minimum between injectable and Tixel treatments and 3 months between threads and Tixel.
  • Be sure to wear SPF and avoid excess sun exposure.
  • Highly sensitive skin may not be eligible for Tixel treatment.

Following your Tixel treatment:

  • Avoid the use of exfoliating products and alpha hydroxy acid and vitamin A based products for at least 3 days, as this may cause irritation to the area. Products to avoid include retinols, salyclic, glycolic and lactic acids.
  • Avoid sun exposure and wear a moisturising SPF.
  • Follow a gentle skincare regimen that uses non-clogging products. Our medical team at Lookfresh can recommend the Synergie skincare range that is suitable post Tixel treatment.
  • Avoid touching, irritating or picking at the treated area.

This is a guide, be sure to follow the specific advice of your treating clinician.
